Woodbridge Hall has long been a central gathering place for the local community, hosting events, meetings and activities that bring people together.
Kingborough Mayor Paula Wriedt said the hall plays an important role in the social life of Woodbridge and the surrounding area.
“Council has invested over $275,000 to improve accessibility, comfort and the long‑term preservation of this important historic building,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Over recent years, Council has installed a new roof, stage, laid Tasmanian oak flooring in the main hall, replaced damaged external weatherboards and restored the front entrance.
“A new accessible toilet facility has also been constructed, with the former toilet block demolished as part of the upgrade.”
Further works are planned in the coming weeks, including new concrete pathways to improve accessible access around the hall, along with future landscaping and garden bed restoration to enhance the surrounding grounds.
These improvements mean Woodbridge Hall is now wheelchair accessible and better equipped to meet the needs of the community.
The upgrades will ensure the hall remains a welcoming, functional and accessible space for residents and visitors alike, while respecting its heritage character.
