As part of National Volunteer Week, Kingborough Council is hosting a local volunteers celebration at a sparkling reception at the Kingborough Community Hub.
Kingborough Mayor, Paula Wriedt said the celebration is a way to acknowledge the generous individuals who selflessly give their time and energy to make Kingborough a caring and connected community.
“The event is about recognising the invaluable contributions of volunteers across the region,” said Cr Wriedt.
“This is our chance to say thank you to the amazing people who make a real difference in Kingborough.
“We host these events to provide an opportunity for our volunteers to connect, share stories, and celebrate each other’s work.
“Our guest speakers sharing their inspiring stories are Phil and Ned Wise, father and son adventurers and Clair Harriss, founder of local charity Tassie Mums,” Cr Wriedt said.
This is the second yearly celebration for volunteers, replacing the former Kingborough Awards event and reflects Council’s renewed focus on highlighting and supporting volunteerism across all sectors of the community.
“Volunteers make an enormous difference to the lives of many in our community,” Cr Wriedt said.
“Your commitment and compassion help make Kingborough the wonderful place it is to live.
“I’m honoured to be the emcee for the evening, as it will be one of my final opportunities to represent Kingborough as Mayor when I finish up the following week.
The evening will be held at the Kingborough Community Hub on Friday, 22 May, and will feature canapes, delicious food, beverages, special guest speakers and live entertainment.
