Kingborough Community Forum Welcomes New Groups

Kingborough Council is inviting local community groups to apply to join the Kingborough Community Forum.

Mayor Paula Wriedt said the Forum brings together Kingborough-based community and progress associations, ratepayer groups, and groups that advocate on issues affecting the wider Kingborough area.

“The Forum plays an important role in giving community groups a direct pathway to Council and is a valuable space for open and constructive conversation between Council and our community,” Cr Wriedt said.

“Hearing from a broad range of community voices helps ensure Council’s decisions and engagement are informed by local, lived experiences.

“By engaging directly with local groups, we gain a better understanding of the local issues, ideas and experiences that shape Kingborough.

“A strong and diverse Forum helps Council make more informed decisions.

“It also provides an opportunity for community representatives to hear about current projects and priorities, and raise concerns that matter to their members.

“Council recognise that travel distance and time can be a barrier for some groups, particularly those in rural and semi rural areas.

“We have recently improved our audio visual meeting technology for online meetings, allowing community representatives to attend meetings online from anywhere, with clear audio, video and real time participation,” Cr Wriedt said.

Kingborough Community Forum meets every three months on Thursday evening from 5pm to 7pm at the Kingborough Council Civic Centre in Kingston.
