Council is continuing its commitment to creating more inclusive and accessible public infrastructure, with a range of toilet upgrades and community facility improvements planned as part of the 2026/27 Capital Works Program.
Acting Mayor Christian Street said the program of works will deliver new and upgraded amenities across the municipality.
“These upgrades are designed to better meet the needs of people of all abilities, with a strong focus on accessibility, safety and usability,” Cr Street said.
“Accessible public toilet upgrades are planned for Blackmans Bay Hall, Kettering Hall and Kingston Beach Oval.
“Margate Hall is also getting a new accessible ramp and dedicated DDA parking spot.
“These Improvements and upgraded amenities will help ensure people with a disability, older residents, families with young children can all access our public facilities.
“Bruny Island has a number of projects planned this coming financial year including a DDA-compliant toilet for the Alonnah Hall and cricket club.
“Tinderbox Foreshore will see a new upgraded public toilet constructed, resolving long-standing waste water issues and improving the water supply to the facility.
“These projects form part of Council’s broader investment in maintaining and improving essential infrastructure and supporting the growing and diverse community of Kingborough,” Cr Street said.
The Kingston Beach Oval DDA-compliant toilet upgrade is funded by an Active Tasmania Grant.
The DDA-compliant facilities at Blackmans Bay Hall and Kettering Hall, along with the DDA access ramp at Margate, are funded by the State Government.
