Browns Road will reopen to two-way traffic later this week as the major road upgrade enters its final stage.
Acting Mayor Christian Street said the completion of asphalting and line marking works will allow traffic to return to normal along Browns Road.
“The return of two-way traffic is a significant milestone and signals that the project is nearing completion,” Cr Street said.
“With these works complete, our focus will shift to removing the temporary access lane connecting Browns Road to the Southern Outlet.”
From Monday, 13 July, access to the Southern Outlet from Browns Road will be closed to remove the temporary access lane.
“During these final stages there will be changes to traffic management and some short-term lane closures on the Southern Outlet affecting Kingston-bound traffic,” Cr Street said.
“You can find out more on the website, and more information will be provided before each stage.”
Some southbound bus stop locations will also change during this stage of works.
Updated service information will be available through Metro Tasmania, Tassielink and the Transport website at www.transport.tas.gov.au.
Council will continue to keep the community informed through its communication channels and signage in affected areas.
“We thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience throughout construction and look forward to completing the final elements of the project,” Cr Street said.
