Love Living Locally

2019

Love Living Locally is moving to the new Kingborough Community Hub for 2019!

As the surrounds of Kingston Park are still to be developed, a slightly smaller festival will be held this year. All the favourite kids activities will return however, such as Kids Love Science, a pop-up playground, face painting and henna, social circus, bouncy castle, Zorb balls and more!

The festival is also a great opportunity to connect with local groups and see what is happening across Kingborough and how to get involved.

A variety of local producers will be there with delicious dishes and beverages.

Playstreet will be asking for feedback on draft designs for the Kingston Park playground and Council will have a listening post for community members to tell us what their priorities are for the future.

Activities for the kids

The festival is full of ‘hands on’ activities for children to learn about, and experience, a range of science based activities as part of the Kids Love Science program.

Scientists Sonya and Sonita return with their popular demonstration of transforming milk, cream, sugar, vanilla and liquid nitrogen into delicious ice cream. Many have enjoyed the result of this particular experiment, and usually with a colourful topping.

If defying gravity is more your style, Pascal will help children to make some bottle rockets, which will be launched at various times throughout the event. Members of the InfraReady robots soccer team will be sharing their tools and tips for creating and operating a robotic soccer team.

More science-based fun includes:

  • slime making;
  • extracting DNA from strawberries;
  • bug, leaf and scat identification;
  • squishy circuits; and
  • learning about human anatomy.

The Kids Love Science tent is proudly supported by Inspiring Australia.
