Pop-up Café – Neil the Seal

September 11 @ 11:40 am - 1:00 pm

$5

Join us for a warm and welcoming intergenerational pop-up café!

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and delicious light treats prepared by our talented young baristas-in-training, then settle in for an entertaining and informative presentation from our special guest speaker, Dr Sophia Volzke from the University of Tasmania.

Dr Volzke will share the fascinating story of Neil the Seal, the southern elephant seal who has captivated hearts across Tasmania and indeed around the world with his larger-than-life personality and regular visits to our shores. Learn about Neil’s backstory, why he keeps returning to Tasmania, and the science behind some of his most memorable and mischievous antics.

Discover what makes southern elephant seals such extraordinary animals, hear insights from current research, and gain a deeper understanding of how we can safely coexist with our wild visitors.

As always, there will be plenty of time for questions, conversation, and discussion.

This is a warm, community-focused event. Come for the coffee, stay for the connection.
