Kingborough Council is now offering Safewaste Bin Latch, a simple and effective solution to help keep your waste secure and your neighbourhood cleaner.
These latches are designed to keep wheelie bin lids firmly closed if knocked over by wind, helping to prevent rubbish from spilling onto streets and nature strips. They also help deter animals from getting into your bin, reducing mess and minimising health risks.
Importantly, the latch is collection-friendly—it automatically releases when the bin is lifted and emptied by the collection truck, so there’s no impact on your regular service.
Safewaste Bin Latches are available for $10 from the Barretta Re-Use Shop Waste & Recycling Centre at 1922 Channel Highway, Barretta and at the Civic Centre, 15 Channel Highway, Kingston Tasmania 7050.
