Margate Master Plan

Council is commencing a second round of public consultation to seek feedback on the Draft Margate Master Plan that was endorsed by Council on 1 July.

The initial engagement conducted earlier in 2024 has informed the development of the Draft Plan which aims to create a safer, more inviting Margate Main Street.

The project team are working collaboratively with the Department of State Growth to ensure the Channel Highway serves the needs of our growing community.

State Growth has conducted its own consultation with the community separately to investigate pedestrian and cyclist safety crossing options in Margate (and Snug).

Both Council and the Department will share any relevant feedback received to ensure better outcomes for the community.

Previous Consultation

This first phase of community engagement focused on understanding the diverse needs of our community through a survey.

This helped to understand current issues and capture ideas from residents, workers, shoppers, and visitors who use the area.

This information was sought via a survey that received over 1,000 responses.  It was open from 13 February until 12 March.
